Congressman Doggett,
I am writing to express my concern regarding both the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect IP Act (PIP). Both are dangerous pieces of legislation that will fail in attempting to stop online piracy. Instead, both surpress the freedoms we gain from the Internet and only serve the private interests of the MPAA, RIAA etc.
These policies are both ill-researched, ill-structured and fall short of reflecting the real needs of the general public. It will do little to curb the problem of piracy and will only tempt others to find work-arounds.
More importantly, SOPA & PIP only exasperates the negative perception of Congress and its inability to represent anything but big industry. I encourage you to please vote “NO” on SOPA.
